Sunderland AFC

Inspired by Roker Park and the city’s industrial heritage, the club’s graphic style pays homage to both.

At the heart of the style sits the work of Archibald Leitch, whose architecture is an iconic reference of the Main Stand from the Black Cats former ground. The latticework also inspired a numeric font, Roker, which draws upon shapes from the scotsman’s pattern.

The good folk at Cravens have to be thanked for sourcing the primary typeface, Industry. Once dubbed “the largest shipbuilding town in the World” the typeface is inspired by signs from the yards.
